OXYGEN
(O2)
Oxygen is by far the most common element found
in nature, occurring in its free state almost entirely in the atmosphere.
Oxygen forms compounds with virtually all chemical elements except the
noble gases; hence most oxygen is found in the form of compounds (silicates,
oxides, and water).
It is a tasteless, odorless and colorless gas
essential to life which reacts strongly in the presence of other chemical
substances. Highly oxidizing, it reacts vigorously with combustible materials,
especially in its pure state. Oxidation reactions are accompanied by the
emission of heat. Many reactions require the presence of water or are
accelerated by a catalyst.
Oxygen is widely used among many industries
such as Diving, Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Healthcare,
Metals Industry, Welding, Oil & Gas, Electronics, Aeronautics, Waste
Treatment and a few others.
